MEET THE CEO
JEMIMAH BAYEI
CEO – SIMMER RESTAURANT
Chef Jemimah Bayei, affectionately known as Chef Jemmy, is a talented chef, restaurant consultant, and entrepreneur with a strong background in both the agricultural and culinary industries. Born on September 12, 1992, her journey is a testament to her diverse passions and relentless pursuit of her dreams. Chef Jemmy’s academic background is as impressive as her culinary achievements. She earned a degree in Economics from Houdegbe North American University in 2013 and later completed a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from the Nigerian Defense Academy in Kaduna in 2018.
With a deep-rooted passion for agriculture, Chef Jemmy initially set out to make her mark in the agro-allied industry. In 2015, she launched Jemang.com, a platform where she blogged about agriculture and facilitated the sale and distribution of agricultural products. Although her website is now defunct, it marked the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey.
Her career took a significant turn when she moved from Kaduna to Jos after securing a job at Light Microfinance Bank in June 2015. Just two months later, she transitioned to BEJAFTA Chemical and Agro Allied Services Limited, a fertilizer-producing company, where she honed her skills in the agricultural sector. Chef Jemmy’s commitment to excellence in the agro-allied industry is evident in her choice to sell only the best and most qualitative fertilizer products. By doing so, she has contributed significantly to the production of high-quality farm produce within her region. Her distribution network spans Kaduna, Bauchi, and Jos, with her major warehouse headquartered in Jos. Since 2015, she has continued to excel in this field, selling a minimum of 150 trucks (about 4,500 MT) of fertilizer annually.
In November 2018, Chef Jemmy, driven by her love for food, co-founded Sweet November Bistro, a casual dining restaurant in Jos. Her passion for the culinary arts led her to attend Red Dish Culinary School, where she earned diplomas in both cuisine and pâtisserie. Her culinary journey didn’t stop there; it evolved, and so did her restaurant. Today, Sweet November Bistro has been rebranded as Simmer Restaurant, a vibrant dining destination that reflects Chef Jemmy’s creative vision.
Balancing her expertise in both the agricultural and culinary industries, Chef Jemmy sees this unique merger as a crucial part of her journey toward becoming the person she has always aspired to be. Her story is one of dedication, creativity, and the seamless blending of her two great loves—food and agriculture. Chef Jemmy’s work is not just about cooking or farming; it’s about nurturing, creating, and bringing people together through the art of food and the bounty of the earth.
Chef Jemmy now shares her culinary knowledge through Simmer School of Pastry, where she trains aspiring chefs in baking and pastry arts, while also offering her expertise as a restaurant consultant, helping other food businesses thrive
